# Restore and download deployments

> Go back to an earlier version of a project from the dashboard's Deployments tab. Restore rebuilds a previous deployment as a new one, and Download fetches the source any deployment was built from.

- Released: 29 Sept 2026 (2026-09-29)
- Product area: Dashboard

## Headline changes

### Added: Restore a previous deployment

Choose Restore on a deployment in the project's Deployments tab to rebuild and redeploy its source as a new deployment. If the rebuild fails, your app keeps serving the version that was live when you started. Restoring brings back code only: the key-value store and anything your app wrote to a connected service stay as they are.

### Added: Download a deployment's source

Choose Download on any deployment, including one whose build failed, to fetch the exact source it was built from. Use it to restart local work from a known-good version or to diagnose a failed build offline.

## Other changes

### Changed

- Clearer deployment history (docs: https://helix.tray.ai/documentation/governance/dashboard/)
The Deployments tab now shows Live, Deploying, Restoring, Restore failed, Build failed, and Superseded statuses. A restored deployment names the one it restored, and selecting a row opens its build output.
